About Me

Alex Colvin: Houston, Texas, United States; To best understand the Colvin Study, please read the Nov 24 2007 post: Introduction and Overview. I'm currently a Houston resident pursuing undergraduate studies toward a BA/History. Yes, I want to be a social scientist, specializing in Family History. The Colvin study was begun in 2005 as a reaction to the plethora of flawed data being published by genealogy hobbyists regarding this line. I continue to work on this study in my free time. My research training includes a brief stint as a professional genealogist (2005), and as an investigative journalist (1990-1997). Former and current memberships and activities include, James Madison Society, TX (1999); Association of Professional Genealogists (2005); National Genealogical Society (2005); Pinellas County Genealogical Society (2005); Houston Genealogical Forum (2005-present), and volunteer work with the Clayton Library Center for Genealogical Research, Houston, TX. Colvin Graveyard identified on 1985 Fauquier map

The 1985 Fauquier map by Eugene Scheel identifies the Colvin Graveyard. The Map was found among the Virginia-related maps at the CLCGR. It is a large, colorful map with numerous historic markers including the names of numerous mills and roads; Tenerife, is also identified along with Tenerife Mill.
